Bio

Ameenu Yakubu received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, in 2020. After graduation, he worked as a Process Officer at Dangote Fertilizer and Petrochemicals, gaining industrial experience before pursuing his graduate studies. He obtained his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 2025, where his thesis focused on the engineering of recyclable 6FDA-based polyimide membranes for water desalination in membrane distillation. In September 2025, he joined Prof. An’s Advanced Membranes for Water and Energy Laboratory at HKUST as a PhD student, where he is working on energy-efficient and hypersaline-stable membranes for enhancing membrane distillation's potential for water reuse and zero liquid discharge.
